Only 2 teachers at the meeting. We should probably find a regular meeting time.
Student did a great job of presenting their ideas. Their ideas align with GB goals and SIT goals. Here is a summary:
CULTURE
- Expose students to outside world & culture (city, museums, volunteer at soup kitchens)
FUTURE ORIENTED LEARNING
- Students on the committee
- Relate learning to jobs and the future
- Have speakers come in to talk about jobs (Job Fair?) Starting earlier to prep for careers/college was also expressed as important.
- Give opportunities to shadow people in the career setting
- Present to the school in the beginning
- Required volunteer work – volunteer hours required for graduation
- Senior service project
- ACE – give a need and have ACERS fill need, pitch and design it.
CREATIVITY
- Personalizing school with student art, murals, pictures
