The library subscribes to a number of research databases. My personal favorites are the databases from the Gale company. They have recently added a new feature – sound. Here are some features you might want to explore:

Most (all?) of their articles are accompanied by an audio player that reads the articles aloud.

An mp3 download link is included. This feature will allow you and your students to import audio clips into presentations.

Students can read AND listen to articles to reinforce their learning.

Students with reading disabilities will obviously benefit greatly from this source.

You can locate articles for class readings. By using articles from Gale, you will be able to differentiate for students with reading disabilities. You can hand out copies of the articles. Additionally, you can download the audio version to your computer and allow some or all of your students to copy the file to their mp3 players.

When you search by topic, pay attention to the tabs at the top of the results list. For many topics there will be results under reference books, magazines, scholarly journals, viewpoints, multimedia, primary sources, statistics etc.

HOW DO YOU GET TO THESE GREAT RESOURCES?

Library Home

Click Search (maginfying glass icon in center of page)

Choose any of the Gale Databases (Opposing Viewpoints, Student REsource Center, Biography Resource Center, or Gale PowerSearch which searches many databases at once)

Type in some search words and explore!!
